- [S5] Obituary.
Mr. Louis Terriault After a long and honorable fight over 17 years against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), died Louis Terriault April 17, 2018 at the age of 64 years. The son of the late Dr Florent Terriault and Lise Gamache, he was the husband and lover of Manon Blanchette, the one who allowed him to live the sickness in all serenity, in love and tenderness. In addition to his wife and mother, he also leaves to mourn his two daughters Stéphanie and Elizabeth and their mother Mylène Guertin (Armand Desrosiers), his brother Paul (Dominique Longtin), his sister Lucie (Kenneth Monroe), his son-in-law Jean B. Péladeau (Audrey), his nephews and nieces David, Marc, Eva, Andréa and Marie, his uncles, aunts, cousins and brothers-in-law, his sister-in-law and many friends. A graduate of the Faculty of Law at the Université de Sherbrooke in 1978, he was called to the Bar in 1979. He began his career with the law firm McCarthy Tétrault upon admission to the Bar and became a partner in 1986. He practiced law until illness prevented him from working in December 2003. A keen reader of literature, especially that of the nineteenth century, early twentieth, he devoted himself to his passion by devouring tens of thousands of pages of its favorite authors including Flaubert, Zola, Proust, Balzac, de Musset, De Maupassant and also more contemporary authors. Every autumn he was waiting for literary prizes to get them. When he was unable to handle the paper, he read on his tablet. The hundreds of hours to read gave him tremendous comfort. A keen film buff, he took the opportunity to see all the films that were important to him, whether they were American, French, European or foreign. Among his favorite directors we can name the Spanish Almodóvar, the genius-crazy Tarentino and the Quebecois Dolan. He says a last goodbye to his former associates, McCarthy Tétrault's lawyers and administrative staff, his many friends and colleagues, especially his tireless accomplice Tim Huot (Diane Larose).
