- Mrs. Katharina Pluhatsch passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 92.
Katharina was the beloved wife of the late Josef, whom she was reunited with after his passing in 1999. She was a devoted mother to Richard (Elaine) Pluhatsch and Robert (Denise) Pluhatsch, and a proud grandmother to Sarah (Jordan) Altman and Emily (Kevin) Smith, who lovingly knew her as ?Grandma.? She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Emma Altman, who affectionately called her ?Oma,? and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another great-grandchild due in August.
She is further survived by her sister-in-law Cacilia (the late Josef) Hauth, along with many loving nieces and nephews, including Ed (Phyllis) Wink, Maria (Chuck) Nahigian, Tina Wink, and Cynthia Hauth. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Wink.
Katharina was a woman who found her greatest joy at home, caring for those she loved most. Though she preferred a quiet life, her devotion to her family was unwavering. She expressed her love through cooking, especially her desserts and took great pride in making sure everyone around her was well fed and cared for. Sunday dinners were a cherished tradition, bringing her family together in a way that meant everything to her.
She also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, teaching them card games like 31 and sharing games from her German heritage, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary at Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (north of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Township. Mrs. Pluhatsch will lie in state Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of the 11:00 AM Funeral Service at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 54045 Schoenherr Rd. (north of 24 Mile Rd.), Shelby Township.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her quiet strength, her loving heart, and the care she gave so freely to her family.
