John E. "Jack" Franko, 66, of Smock, Pa., died on Friday, December 1, 2000 at his home.
He was born on March 8, 1934 in Chestnut Ridge, Pa., a son of Margaret D. (Meosky) Franko of Chestnut Ridge, Pa., and the late John J. Franko.
Mr. Franko was a member of St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, Smock, Pa.
A graduate of Redstone High School, Class of 1952, he was a local businessman who owned Franko's Golf Center which he operated for the last 21 years. He was also a golf member at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bernadine (Myers) Franko; five children: Jack Franko and wife Judy of Norvelt, Pa., Greg M. Franko and wife Kathy of Uniontown, Pa., Tami Franko, DDS of St. Petersburg, Fla., Barbara Plovock and husband Thomas of Fairfield, Pa., and Eric Franko and wife Jeanne of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three grandchildren: Greg Franko, Erica Franko, and McKenzie Plovock; two brothers, William M. Franko and wife Audrey of Allentown, Pa., and Mark R.Franko and wife Carol of Burke, Va.; a sister, Kathleen M. Dini and husband John of Greensburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in THE HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa. today from 12 noon until 9 p.m. and on Monday, December 4, 2000 until 10 a.m., when prayers to transfer the body will be said, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Hedwig R.C. Church with Rev. Fr. John R. Sedlak as main celebrant, and Rev. Fr. Mike Matusak as homolist.
Interment will follow in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Smock, Pa.
Partner parishes of St. Hedwig and St. Cecelia will recite the Parish Rosary today at 4 p.m.
The Parish Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
