Sandra L. Tanner, 59, of 155 Lake St., Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born July 25, 1947 in Saranac Lake, she was the daughter of Earl Martin. She married Roy J. Tanner on July 25, 1976 in Saranac Lake. Sandra was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and worked as a cook and waitress for many years at various area restaurants. She later was employed as a dispatcher for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation until February of this year. Sandy also worked at the Lake Clear Elementary School as a monitor and in the cafeteria. Most recently she was employed as the head cook at the Bloomingdale School. She is survived by her companion Kenneth J. McLaughlin of Saranac Lake; her son Charles Strack and his wife Sheila of Star Lake; four daughters: Sherry Kennedy and her companion of Tupper Lake, Wendy Dupree and her husband Tom and their son Brandon of Saranac Lake, Tanya Ratelle of Tupper Lake and Cassandra Tanner of Tupper Lake; two step-sons: Kirk McLaughlin of Grey, Tenn. and Derek McLaughlin and his wife Nancy of Saranac Lake; her sister Sonia Carr of Fulton; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces; her close family members Nancy and Dave Whitson of Saranac Lake; and her dog, ?her little girl? Howi. She was predeceased by her husband Oct. 24, 1988; two brothers; and a brother-in-law Okie Rcarr. Calling hours will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Frederick Dennis officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in St. John?s Cemetery in Paul Smiths. Friends wishing to remember Sandra may make memorial contributions to Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home.
