Miron, George James,
95, of Louisville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 10, at Sacred Heart Village with his family by his side.
He was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, son of the late James and Angeline King Miron. George was a World War II veteran and one of the original sales managers for Kingsford Charcoal Company, where he worked for 35 years. He was a champion ski jumper in his youth, and an avid golfer, who always hit it straight if not far.
George celebrated the wins and suffered the defeats of the U of L basketball team and the Green Bay Packers football team. He played cribbage with anyone who would give him a game, and made friends wherever he went.
George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Celeste Beauparlant Miron, and four of his siblings, James, Angela, Mary, and Hubert.
He is survived by his children, Tom Miron of Louisville, Jane Butterfoss (Ed) of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Anne McGrane (Tom) of Arlington Heights, Illinois; grandchildren, Molly, Dan, and Tom Butterfoss and Emily and Joe McGrane; and a brother, Harry Miron.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Sacred Heart Village for the loving care shown to their Dad.
A family Mass and burial were held. George was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and for the last several years of his life, a faithful viewer of Mass of the Air. Donations in George's memory may be made to Mass of the Air, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207, or to a charity of the donor's choice .
