Dr. Morris S. Rosenblum, 91
Earned medical degree from OSU; was active in temple, civic groups
YOUNGSTOWN - Services were to be at 3 pm today at Congregation Rodef Sholom for Dr. Morris S. Rosenblum, 91, of Heritage Manor, who died Sunday morning at the manor.
Dr. Rosenblum, who was known as "Murph", was born Jan 25, 1905 in New York, a son of Harry and Bessie Rosenblum and was reared in this area. He received a medical degree in 1932 from the Ohio State University Medical School and did post-graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.
A diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, he was a member of the Amercian Medical Association, American Heart Association, Mahoning County Medical Society, Ohio State Medical Association, American Diabetes Association and the international Society of Internal Medicine.
He was a member of the Youngstown Rotary Club, and was a lifelong member of the YMCA, having served as its general membership chairman in 1967. He was a champion handball player.
He served on the board of directors of the Youngstown Fresh Air Camp, was president of the Mahoning County Ohio State Alumni Association and a member of the advisory board of the Ohio State College of Medicine. He was the northeastern Ohio area representative of the OSU Development Fund.
Dr. Rosenblum was a member of the temple, was its congregational president from 1958-1961 and was an honorary member of its board of trustees. He was a member of B'nai B'rith and the Jewish Community Center and was a recipient of the Louis Brandeis Award in the Bonds for Israel program.
His wife, the former Mathilda J. Meritzer, whom he married in 1932, died in 1995.
He leaves two sons, Jerold H. of Malvern, PA., and Richard of Youngstown; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
