Deceased Name: William A. Gamache
89, beloved husband of Marie Gamache, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at his home.
William was the son of the late Louis and Alice Brunell Gamache. William was born and raised in Enfield, only leaving to serve in the Army during World War II. William was awarded two Bronze Stars for his courageous service. Upon returning home, William worked as an auto mechanic for over 30 years with the Troiano Co. retiring in 1989. William will always be remembered for his caring spirit and his willingness to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie Gamache, and children, son, Steven, and his wife, Shirley Gamache, of Stafford Springs; daughter, Robin, and her husband, James Gagnon, of Windsor Locks; daughter, Raven, and her husband, Edward Reid Jr., of Enfield. William's joy and light of his life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kerri Hall, Joel Gamache, Michael and Michelle Gagnon, Dallas and Ashley Reid, Dalton, Wade, and Shayla Gamache, Karissa Mori, Landon and Chase Hall. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Quiment of Hamden, Mass.; special niece, Rita Neal; and dear friend, Jim Cuscovitch; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for William will be held at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Wednesday, Oct. 28, 10:30 a.m., with Father Melnick officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery immediately following the service.
Visitation for William will be Tuesday at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 4 to 8 p.m.
