Sister was born in Laurier, Manitoba, on August 26th 1915. Following her high school education, she left for St Hyacinthe [Quebec] to join the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation. Her first teaching assignment led her to St Lazare, Manitoba, in 1937. This hamlet, and especially the people in it, had a great attaction for her. Illness struck twelve years later. It was great sadness that, she left for the Sanitorium.
Gradually, her health returned but her teaching career was over. She was pleased to lend her skills as secretary at the Academy [Riviere], to serve as receptionist, as bursar or as the homemaker in Saskatoon, Winnipeg, or at the Provincial House in Prince Albert. These tasks allowed her ample time for prayer, for knitting, and for crossword puzzles which were her favorite hobbies.
Sister will be truly missed by her companions and by the nursing staff. The latter, and all those who accompanied her more closely in her final illness, will have fond memories of her humor and her ability to love and accept loving care. All rejoice in the fact that, her deep longing for God has been fulfilled.
She is survived by two sisters: Rose [Mike] Krotch of Winnipeg MB. and Cecile Desroches of Ste Rose du Lac MB.; one sister in-law, Janine Gamache of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu QC.; and her many Sisters and friends at the Presentation of Mary.
Sister was predeceased by her parents, Honorat and Cedulie [nee Fradette] Gamache; two sisters: Angela of the Grey Nuns and Marie Pickering; and four brothers: Victor, Albert, Rene, and Raymond Gamache.
