NICHOLS _ Lillian Jeanette (nee Gamache) Lillian Jeanette Nichols (nee Gamache), passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the age of 81. Predeceased by her loving husband Art, and nine siblings, Lillian is survived by her younger brother Ken (Jessie) Gamache; and her four children, Jim (Flo) Nichols, Linda (Maurice) Nichols-Mandrusiak, Bev (Lloyd) Burns, and Marion Nichols. She also leaves to mourn, eight grandchildren, three great-grandsons and many other family and friends. Lillian Jeanette Gamache was born in Beaver Mines, Alberta in 1921. She moved to Turner Valley in 1941 where she met Art Nichols, whom she married in 1942. While Art was overseas, Lil worked at the smelter in Kimberley. After the war, they moved to Calgary (and Exshaw, briefly) where they raised their family and assisted many other young people. Lil had a long career, doing bookkeeping and writing payroll, until 1990. An incredibly spunky woman, Lil had a great sense of humour. She loved to drink coffee and visit with her friends and she never turned down the opportunity to skunk someone at crib. Lil was an avid gardener and a voracious reader. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Pamela Campbell who was a terrific support to Lillian for many years. Very special thanks are extended to Miss Florence Musgrove who shared Lil's home for the past three years. Florence was a wonderful helper for Mom. Lil was a generous supporter of many charities. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 3Y6. Funeral Services will be held at JACQUES FUNERAL HOME, corner of Macleod Trail and Lake Fraser Gate South, on Monday, August 19, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements in care of JACQUES FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORIUM, 12700 Macleod Trail South, T2J 7E5.
