NASHUA - Donald R. Gamache, 74, of Nashua, a Lowell native and Korean War veteran, died Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. He was the husband of Claire (Beaulieu) Gamache.
He was born in Lowell on April 26, 1930, a son of the late Eugene and Yvonne (Crete) Gamache. He lived in Nashua many years after growing up in Lowell.
Mr. Gamache served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. Gamache had been employed by Canadian Pacific Railways, Steamships and Airlines, working in the transportation sales headquarters in Boston.
Mr. Gamache later purchased a franchise from H.P. Hood Milk Co., operating as an independent distributor of Hood products. Upon selling his business, Mr. Gamache worked for Anheuser Busch Recycling Corp., retiring in 1993.
He was a communicant of St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, N.H. He was an avid bowler and also enjoyed gardening, and fishing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Walker of Manchester, N.H., Lisa Cook of Derry, N.H., and Kathy Dube and her husband Mark of Nashua; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
