LEOMINSTER -- Mildred A. "Millie" (Sweet) Gamache, 92, a longtime resident of Leominster, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred J. Gamache, in May 2002. Millie was born in Gardner, July 1, 1919, the daughter of Frank E. and Alice (Bass) Sweet and resided in Leominster for over 50 years. Millie worked several years as a licensed practical nurse at Leominster Hospital. During WWII, she worked as a civil service munitions inspector for the Boston Ordinance. She was a communicant of St. Leo's Church, and had been a member of the Leominster Hospital Guild and volunteered many years in the hospital gift shop. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and spending time in the summer at the Cape with her family. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barry R. and Cynthia LaRoche of Fitchburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice A. and Joseph Quinn of Leominster; two stepsons, Wilfred J. Gamache Jr., of Holden, Norman S. Gamache of Leominster; two stepdaughters, Yvette Pandiscio and Jacqueline Gamache, both of Fitchburg; five grandchildren, Kristen Reed, Todd LaRoche, Jacqueline Crowley, Julianne Quinn, Jonathan Quinn; five great-grandchildren, Spencer LaRoche, Matthew LaRoche, Brady LaRoche, Bella LaRoche, Michael Crowley and Taylor Grace Crowley. She also leaves several nieces and nephews; her dear friend of many years, Ida LaFlamme of Leominster, and her roommate at Life Care Center, Mary Beausoliel. She was the sister of the late Francis Sweet and Blanche Puustinen, both of Gardner, Edna Ramgren of Leominster. Millie's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff in the Critical Care Unit at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester, and a special thanks to Kim, Sarah, and Tonya at Life Care Center of Leominster.
GAMACHE -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 A.M., Thursday, January 5th at Saint Leo's Church, 108 Main St., Leominster. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours are 5-8 p.m, Wednesday at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg. Please seewww.isabellefuneral.com for additional information.
