Deceased Name: Joseph John Dalhaimer
Joseph John Dalhaimer, 76, a Klamath Falls resident, died April 20, of natural causes in Los Angeles.
The rosary will be recited at 9:40 a.m., followed by a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, at the St. Pius X Catholic Church Day Chapel with Rev. Frank Buckman officiating. Cremation was performed by the Roosevelt Memorial Park Crematory. O'Hair and Riggs Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Dalhaimer was born on Aug. 12, 1925 in Sheboygan, Wis., to John and Clementine (Hermann) Dalhaimer.
He attended Holy Name Catholic School and Sheboygan Central High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in September 1943 and served as a gunner during World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in January 1946.
He married Doris Herzog on Dec. 10, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wis., and they repeated their vows in Sheboygan, Wis., on June 27, 1981. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999 with a family reunion in Las Vegas, Nev.
After his military service, he worked at Brown's Grocery in Milwaukee with his sister, Tina Fromm. He then returned to Sheboygan and worked as a cabinetmaker. He then worked as a draftsman for five years. He was a project engineer in heating and air conditioning at Kohler Company for 14 years, and also worked at Aldag Sheet Metal as project engineer until his retirement in 1989.
He enjoyed school sports and spent 15 years coaching basketball at St. Dominic's School.
He spent many years involved in softball in Wisconsin as a player, coach, manager and umpire. He also served as state softball commissioner for one year.
He was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Sheboygan for 46 years. He moved to Klamath Falls in June 2001 to be near his family and joined St. Pius X Catholic Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, prayer time, softball, coaching and school sports.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Cheryl Leach of Los Angeles; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and John Gamache of Klamath Falls; daughter, Anna Bartkowski of Franklin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Steve Gamache of Ferndale, Calif., Christina Gamache of Eugene, Ore., and Rebecca and Ashley Bartkowski of Franklin, Tenn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Zeaman and Edna Dalhaimer and Fred and Ruth Bauer, all of Sheboygan; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Dalhaimer; and sister, Tina Fromm.
