December 6, 1937 -
September 7, 2022
Doreen Mae (Gamache) Heffron died September 7, 2022, in Kirkland, Washington.
Born December 6, 1937, to Jeffrey and Vivienne Gamache at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima, WA.
Doreen was the third of eighteen children, growing up in Moxee, WA where she and her 17 siblings worked on the family farm, helped with household chores, and developed her deep Faith and love of family. Doreen attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Moxee and attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and Yakima Valley Junior College. She met Mic Heffron, a handsome and dashing young man with sparkling blue eyes who drove a green coup car that had been lowered. In her words "I fell for him hook, line and sinker". Doreen & Mic were married on June 28, 1958. Together they raised three children and celebrated 60 years together in 2018.
After spending their first 10 years in Yakima, the family moved to West Seattle where they were active in Holy Rosary Parish and Kennedy High School. In 1982, Doreen & Mic moved to Everett, WA, and later split their time between Mill Creek, WA, and Palm Desert, CA. They loved spending time in the Desert where they were active members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Desert Green Golf Club, and their community of close friends. Doreen & Mic enjoyed golf and traveling visiting many places over the years, including Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain, England, Scotland, Mexico, and Hawaii. Mic passed away in April 2020 and eventually, Doreen moved to Aegis Living Kirkland Waterfront where she made many friends and became a beloved member of the Aegis family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Doreen is survived by 16 of her siblings, her children, Pat Heffron (Sandy), Michele Heffron, Shawn van der Putten (Ronald); and six grandchildren: Ian Heffron, Sydney Cleveland (Ashton), Jordan Green, Michael McDiarmid, Jillian Berg, and Skylar van der Putten. Her first great-grandchild is due to arrive in December 2022.
