ST. ALBANS ? Mary Theresa Bergeron, a lifelong area resident, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at the St. Albans Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Born on April 15, 1927 in St. Albans, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Georgiana (Gamache) Gamache. Mary was 87 years old.
On October 5, 1948, she married John Mark Bergeron, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Mary retired in 1989 from the former Fonda Container Corp following 29 years of service. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish and a longtime member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and most especially enjoyed family gatherings and being with her grandchildren.
She always greeted visitors with a smile and when they left they were smiling.
Survivors include her children, Roger Bergeron and his wife, Suzann, of Burlington and their son, Andrew Bergeron and his wife, Arthi Balu, of LaHoya, Calif.; Shirley Bessette and her husband, Harold, of Sheldon and their two sons, Jason Bessette and his children, Jenna and Jaiden of Franklin and Jared Bessette and his wife, Belinda, and their children, Brynn, Joslyn and Kierstyn of St. Albans and Mark Bergeron and his partner, Nancy Greenwood, of South Burlington as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend, Pauline Helias.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Annette and Claire Gamache and several half-brothers and sister.
Mary?s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the East Wing caregivers for the care and support given to her and her family during her stay at the St. Albans Healthcare & Rehab Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug, 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake St, St. Albans. Interment will be in the family lot in St. Anthony?s Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon.
