Sturbridge: Ronald L. Gamache, 77, died early Saturday morning, May 5th, in the Radius Healthcare Center, Southbridge, having been released from his earthly duties and welcomed in peace and grace to his heavenly home. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Florianne M. (Desrosiers) Gamache; two sons, Gregory J. Gamache and his wife Violeta of Sturbridge, and Thomas P. Gamache and his wife Juliet of Aurora CO; two daughters Anita Marie Tirkot and her husband John of Springfield and Jeanne Lockhart of Southbridge; six grandchildren, Ryan Gamache, Jacob Gamache, Joshua Belanger, Natalya Tirkot, Gabrielle Tirkot, and Victoria Lockhart and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers and one sister. He was born in Worcester the son of Leopold and Anita Gamache. He was a graduate of the former Boys Trade School in Worcester. Ronald worked as a machinist at "T" Tool and Die in Southbridge many years. He later worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart for six years. Ronald enjoyed the outside, he loved fishing, hunting, gardening, rock collecting and tending to his fruit trees. Ronald served valiantly for many years in a variety of leadership roles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first in Worcester and later as Bishop of the Oxford Ward in that town. As an Elder and then as a High Priest in the Church, he led and inspired members of the Ward, its Bishopric and Ward Council, and performed sacred ordinances in both the Washington, D.C., and Boston, Mass., Temples, where he served faithfully until recent illnesses prevented him from doing so. He is remembered by Ward and Stake members as a faithful follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and as an example of the commandment to ?love thy neighbor as thyself.? He will be missed by his many friends, for whom he served as mentor, role model, and a good and faithful servant. His funeral service will be held Friday, May 11th, at 10:00am in the Church of Latter-day Saints, 49 Old Webster Rd., Oxford. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Sturbridge. Calling hours will be held in the Church on Thursday, May 10th, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of Latter-day Saints Perpetual Education Fund, c/o President Jim Dusty, 31 Edna Circle, North Brookfield, MA 01535. The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
