Leslie J. Carter 1931-2011 NORTH ADAMS Mr. Leslie John Carter, 80, of Village East, 546 Union St. North Adams, died Friday evening, December 30, 2011, at Williamstown Commons. He was born in London, England on February 12, 1931, a son of the late John and Nellie (Ridley) Carter. He attended schools in England, including South Hall Technical College in London, and served with the Royal Air Force for several years. He came to the United States in 1966. An electrician by trade, Mr. Carter last worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for 5 years, until the company ceased operations. Earlier, he had worked at the former Arnold Print Works and was a substitute teacher in the Electrical Department at C.H. McCann Technical High School. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams. He enjoyed sports, and was an avid fan of the Patriots, Celtics, and 2 baseball teams, the Red Sox, and any team who defeated the New York Yankees. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Mary Anne Gamache, whom he married on October 11, 1975. Leslie and Mary Anne were always together, and when someone saw one of them, the other was never far behind. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Ernest G. Gamache, Sr. and his wife Holly, of North Adams; three nephews, Kevin Gamache and his wife, Shannon, of North Adams; Thomas "Bart" Gamache and his companion, Jeanette, of Windsor, Mass., and ErnestGamache, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Clarksburg; a niece, Annette Czarnecki and her husband, Richard, of North Adams; and his grand nieces and nephews, ZacharyGamache, Benjamin Gamache, Rebecca Gamache, DylanGamache, Stefan Gamache, Elaina Gamache, Sarah Czarnecki and Brian Gamache. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 5th, at 10 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours are Thursday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to through the funeral home.
