Deceased Name: Eugene Gamache, 72, Sprague security guard
BENNINGTON, Vt. -- Eugene A. Gamache, 72, of Frost Road died yesterday at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.
Born in North Adams on May 19, 1929, son of Alderic and Dorothy Sunn Gamache, he graduated from Drury High School. He also attended the former North Adams State College.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and was discharged with the rank of corporal.
Mr. Gamache was employed as a security guard by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. Prior to that, he had been employed in Sprague's production department and as an engineer in its research laboratory.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis' Church in Bennington and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Third Order of Carmelites. He attended Bennington Project Independence.
He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy Manseau of Huntington, Mass.; two sons, Robert Alan Gamache of Clarisa, Minn., and David Anthony Gamache of North Adams; three daughters, Terry Lee Arthur of Pittsfield, Paula Jean Mears of Bennington and Donna Marie Gamache of North Adams; two brothers, Kenneth Paul Gamache of North Adams and Carl Gamache of Louisiana; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A prayer service for Eugene A. Gamache will be offered Thursday, Feb. 7, at 9:30 a.m. at HANSON-WALLBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME 213 West Main St., Bennington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Interment will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8. The recitation of the rosary will be held at 7. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Knights of Columbus, North Adams Council, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, Vt. 05201.
