Gamache BENNINGTON - The funeral Mass for Eugene A. Gamache, 72, who died Feb. 4, 2002, was held Thursday at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, CSC, associate pastor, officiating. The Rev. Maurice Cummings, of the Order of Carmelites, assisted at the Mass. Burial followed in South View Cemetery in North Adams, Mass. Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Pallbearers were Dana Mears, Rick Arthur, Jeff Meehan, Allison Hyte, Adam Myallaked and David Hollister. Members of the Knights of Columbus led the family in the recitation of the rosary during the visitation on Wednesday evening. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington. Died: Son of Alderic and Dorothy (Sunn) Gamache Married to Doris Manceau Information from Vermont Death Records and Veterans' Gravesite Records The son of Alderic and Dorothy (Sunn) Gamache, he graduated from Drury High School and attended North Adams State College. He had been employed at Sprague Electric in the production department and as an engineer in the research laboratory, and most recently as a security guard. Mr. Gamache was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Third Order of Carmelites. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart St Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Manseau) Gamache; two sons and three daughters; two brothers; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Gamache.

Gamache, 72, of Frost Road died yesterday at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation. Born in North Adams on May 19, 1929, son of Alderic and Dorothy Sunn Gamache, he graduated from Drury High School. He also attended the former North Adams State College. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was discharged with the rank of corporal. Mr. Gamache was employed as a security guard by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. Prior to that, he had been employed in Sprague's production department and as an engineer in its research laboratory. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis' Church in Bennington and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Third Order of Carmelites. He attended Bennington Project Independence. He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy Manseau of Huntington, Mass.; two sons, Robert Alan Gamache of Clarisa, Minn., and David Anthony Gamache of North Adams; three daughters, Terry Lee Arthur of Pittsfield, Paula Jean Mears of Bennington and Donna Marie Gamache of North Adams; two brothers, Kenneth Paul Gamache of North Adams and Carl Gamache of Louisiana; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A prayer service for Eugene A. Gamache will be offered Thursday, Feb. 7, at 9:30 a.m. at HANSON-WALLBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME 213 West Main St., Bennington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Interment will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8. The recitation of the rosary will be held at 7.
