Rose Ann Gamache
Rose Ann Gamache, 77, died Dec. 13, 2003, in Florence. She was born June 5, 1926, to Anton and Elizabeth Shuminsky in Sioux City, Iowa. After high school she worked for the Department fo the Air Force. Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base just outside Omaha Neb. in finance, as a statistician. She met Peter J. Gamache during her Civil Service work and they married June 16, 1951. They moved to Florence in 1959 after Dr. Gamache graduated from Creighton Medical School. She managed the business end of the medical practice. They were married for 43 years. Mrs. Gamache was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Eastern Star and Business and Professional Woman. She also served on the United Way Board, she served as an election judge on numerous elections, she was a charter member of the Red Brick Players at the Rialto Theater and was one of the original can-can dancers.
She supported many area groups including, Loaves & Fishes, the expansion of the Pueblo Community College, the Rialto Theater renovation, the YWCA in Pueblo, where she had been a water safety instructor for many years. She loved children and had been a Scout leader for many years. She also led many fundraising events for school organizations. She is survived by five children, James A. Gamache of Storm Lake Iowa, Alexia O. Smaller of Fort Collins, Pierre A. Gamache of Colorado Springs, Bill Gamache of Pueblo and Celeste R. Gamache of Colorado Springs; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Anderson of Grand Prairie, Texas and Mary Hilford of Bellevue, Neb.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Michelle Rose. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Florence at 1 p.m. on Tuesday Dec 28, with the Rev. Claude Sullivan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following: The Florence Public Library, Rialto Theater Renovation Fund, Friends of Hospice Fremont County, YWCA in Pueblo. Donations may be mad through the Charles Anthony Funeral Home office in Florence. Arrangements were handled by Charles Anthony Funeral Home.
