- Mrs. Genevieve (Jean) K. Gamache, 87, a resident of the Heritage Health Care Center in Utica, formerly of N. Utica, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the nursing home, with her loving family by her side. Genevieve was born in Utica on July 3, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Aniela Koziol and received her education in Utica schools. On September 16, 1942, Jean married Earl E. Gamache, a devoted union of 60 years until Earl's death in 2002. She was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church in Whitesboro and an active member of American Legion Utica Post 229 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Gamache is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Mike Pytko, of N. Utica; one son and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and Marguerite Gamache, of Perryville, MD, and Kathleen Gamache, of Lakeland, FL; three grandchildren, Mary Lourdes Laramee and her husband, Andrew, of Chittenango, NY, Mike Pytko and his wife, Lauri, of Louisville, KY, and Elizabeth Walker, of FL; two sisters, Olga Ciecko and Phyllis Koziol, both of NY Mills; three stepgrandchildren, Erin, Jessica and James; six great-grandchildren, Carter, Tanner, Merryck, Emma, Myah and Mae; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robert, in 2005; and brothers and sisters. Mrs. Gamache's funeral be held on Saturday (today), April 24, 2010, at 8:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, and 9:30 at St. Paul's Church, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Gamache's family extends a special thank you to the staff of the 6th floor at the Heritage Health Care Center for the love and compassion given to Jean.
