Obituary (Friday August 4, 1939 Waterville Morning Sentinel, p 7) 'MICHAEL GAMACHE, FOR MANY YEARS PROMINENT GROCER IN WATERVILLE IS DEAD' -- Maintained Store Here for 48 Years -- Death yesterday removed one of Waterville's oldest grocers when Mr. Gamache died at his home, 23 Front Street. Active until July 22, when he became ill, Mr. Gamache had personally maintained and supervised the function of his grocery store at the Head of Falls for 48 years, taking charge of all deliveries for 40 years, or until the time that the business acquired motorized delivery equipment. Born at St. Cecile, P. Q. in 1867, Mr Gamache had been a resident of Waterville for 60 years. He hardly spent more than a day away from his business and then only on rare occasions. He is survived by his widow, Florida, three sons, George, Arthur, and Lionel of Waterville, two daughters, Mrs. Russell Waters and Mrs. Felix LeClair of Waterville and 17 grandchildren. The body was removed to Rancourt and Veilleux undertaking parlor on Elm Street where it will remain until funeral services which are to be held Saturday Morning at 8 o'clock at St. Francis de Sales church. Relatives and friends may call at the parlor at any time.
