  [S5] Obituary. Elizabeth Ann "Betty" McCaghy, age 95, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Chippewa Manor Nursing Home. Betty was born on September 11, 1918, to Felix and Anne (Feirer) Lambert in Minneapolis, MN, and spent most of her young life in Chippewa Falls. Betty married Eugene McCaghy, at Holy Ghost Parish, in Chippewa Falls, on August 19, 1940. Most of her adult life was spent living in Eau Claire. Betty was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and sang with two of her sisters, Phyllis and Edith, as the "Lambert Sisters." In their younger years, they sang on the radio and with local bands. Later in life, they frequently entertained at family gatherings. She also sang in the Immaculate Conception Church choir for many years. Another of Betty's talents was painting. She painted pictures for several years and shared her wonderful work with her family. Betty also enjoyed traveling, time at the lake and golfing with her lady friends. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma to all of her family. She will be remembered for her caring ways and terrific sense of humor. Betty is survived by her sons, Larry (Faith) McCaghy, Lakeville MN, Rick (Betty) McCaghy, Elk Rapids, MI; and daughters, Judy (Robert) Gamache, Holcombe, WI, Jeanne McCaghy, Woodbury, MN; and her special friend, Richard Abel, as well as 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Sneen and Edith Gilbertson; and brother-in-law, Charles (Dawn) McCaghy. Betty was preceded in death by her dear husband, Gene McCaghy; her parents, Felix and Anne Lambert; her brothers; sisters; and in-laws, Agnes and Erling Lier, Loraine and Casey McRoberts, Ralph and Eva Lambert, LeRoy and Marian Lambert, John and Ilene Lambert, Donald Sneen and Howard Gilbertson. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church, in Eau Claire, preceded by one hour of visitation. Father Don Meuret will be the Mass celebrant. Entombment will be at the Chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire immediately following the service. Betty's family wishes to thank all those at Chippewa Manor Nursing Home for the gentle and loving care given to Betty. Memorials may be made to Regis Catholic Schools or Eau Claire's Sojourner House.
