Irene Gamache, 85, of Willimantic, widow of Aurel A. Gamache, died Saturday, (September 20, 2003), in Windham Hospital. She was born Jan. 22, 1918 in Waterbury, the daughter of Joseph and Melina (Gamache) Chouinard. She co-owned the Gamache Service Station in Willimantic from 1948 to 1978, when she retired. Mrs. Gamache was a member and former officer of the Society of St. Anne, a member of the Senior Citizens Club, the McSweeney Regional Senior Center, and a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Laurent and Mariel Gamache of Willimantic and Arthur J.F. and Lidija Gamache of Columbia; three daughters and a son-in-law, Gloria and Linda Gamache of Willimantic and Aurela and Richard Hauzinger of Olean, NY. She also leaves five grandchildren, Vincent Gamache and his wife, Kelly, Nathalie and Christopher Gamache and Irene and Barbara Hauzinger. She was predeceased by five brothers, Noel, Albert, Ernest, Jerry and Arthur Chouinard. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church on Valley St. in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Friends are invited to call Monday, from 7-9 p.m. and again on Tuesday, from 9-9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St., Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church Repair Fund, 80 Maple Ave., Willimantic, 06226.
