Deceased Name: Leonard F. Gamache
RUMFORD, R.I. -- Leonard F. Gamache, 74, formerly of Diana Drive and formerly of Uxbridge, Mass., a former business co-owner and operator, died Monday, April 29, in Miriam Hospital, Providence.
His wife, Ruth J. (Mulvaney) Gamache, predeceased him. He leaves a son, George Gamache of Ontario; and two grandchildren, Eric and Corinna Gamache, both of Ontario. A brother, Richard Gamache, predeceased him. He was born in Westfield, Mass., son of Mitchell and Viola (Demara) Gamache, and lived in Pawtucket before moving to Rumford in 1959. He attended Uxbridge schools and graduated from Bryant College. He served in the Army.
Mr. Gamache, with his wife, owned and operated Gamache Costume Co., Pawtucket. He previously was a member of the administrative staff of the ROTC program at Providence College. He was also a professional Santa Claus. He was affiliated with the Rumford Knights of Columbus Pope John 23rd Council, the Community Players in Pawtucket and the Players of Providence. He appeared in and directed theater productions for community groups.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 2, from Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the funeral home.
