Ernest A. Gamache, 87, of West Caldwell, N.J., died Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell, followed by the interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Born in Ludlow, Mass., Mr. Gamache graduated from Assumption Prep in Worcester, Mass., and was a 1947 graduate of Tufts University. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Gamache moved to West Caldwell 50 years ago, and was employed by Fedders Corp. in Edison, N.J., for many years as a chief engineer, then vice president, before retiring in 1989. A parishioner at St. Aloysius Church, Mr. Gamache served as an usher at the Sunday 10:30 a.m. Mass for over 40 years and was a tutor at Trinity Academy, the church grammar school. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Old Guard in Caldwell, and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Caldwell Senior Citizens. Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years, Margaret; eight loving children, Margaret Mary Weinberg and her husband, Dr. Joseph, Anne Hammell, Mary Bullard and her husband, Eldred, Michael Gamache and his wife, Beth, Ellen Reichert and her husband, Donald, Kathryn Goldman and her husband, Steven, Michele Villani and her husband, Thomas, and Lisa Reulbach and her husband, Donald; dear sister, Therese Gamache; 22 cherished grandchildren, and 13 adored great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Lionel Gamache.
