After completing his bachelor?s degree at Marion College and his master?s degree at Eastern Michigan University, Jim devoted the majority of his professional life to education, serving as a teacher and principal in the Melvindale/Northern Allen Park School System until his retirement in 2005. A gifted musician, he also played piano for several southern gospel quartets, including The Travelers, the Cavalrymen, the Templeaires, and most notably the Toney Brothers, with whom he served from 1965 to 1980. In addition, Jim faithfully served for many years as Minister of Music at Plymouth Church of the Nazarene. In his later years, he continued to share his love for teaching and worship by serving at Emmaus Road Church, where he remained active in ministry until his passing.
Visitation Friday, June 12th from 7 PM until 9 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth.
Funeral Service Saturday, June 13th at 1 PM also at the funeral home.
