Died:
- Donald Sargent Cohen, 80, of Scituate, died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love, comfort and care of his family and friends on October 25, 2015, following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Elsie and Israel Cohen; and beloved husband of the late Carolyn (Locklin) (Short) Cohen; loving father of Charles Cohen, Jason Cohen and his wife Amy Dwyer, and Daniel Cohen; brother of Eugene and Penny Cohen, and Richelle and Steve Saunders. Also survived by many loving stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Donald was born in Norwell and spent his early years in Scituate. A graduate of Scituate High School and Nichols College, he was an active, enthusiastic member of the local business community through working at the Country Package store (a long standing family business) and his work with the local Rotary Club. After getting married and having two children while living in Cohasset, he moved his young family to California, where he successfully worked and found his passion in the California wine industry. He returned to Scituate in the early 1980s and continued to work in local retail. Starting at the dawn of videotape rentals, Don was the local go to guy for movies. He managed the Stop and Shop video for years and retired from Blockbuster video in Cohasset. An informal memorial held at Mount Hope Improvement Society on Clapp Road in Scituate, Sunday, November 1, at 1 p.m. Interment at 3 p.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donalds memory may be made to Scituate Council on Aging, 27 Brook St., Scituate, MA 02066.
