Died:
- Janet M. Garrett, 85, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 30, 1938, in East Deer, and was the daughter of the late John Fleck, Emma L. (Hall) Susa, and stepfather, Francis Susa.
Jan lived her life in Tarentum and Natrona Heights. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1956 and attended one year of nursing school. In 1958, Jan married her high school sweetheart, Don Garrett. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She worked for a time at Bright Ideas Gift Shop owned by her sister, Jean. She truly cherished this time with her sister. Jan and her husband, Don, enjoyed opening their home to host various events and celebrations for family, friends and charity organizations. She loved being a hostess. Her other interests included cooking, baking, reading, quilting and spending time with her loved ones, especially the children. Jan and Don vacationed annually on the Gulf Coast of Florida; these were special times. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and attended Sacred Heart, Sacred Heart-St. Peter's and Holy Martyrs of Tarentum. Her service for the church included the Ladies of Charity and the Quilting Group. In addition, Jan was a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Loy Don Garrett; her children, Susan (John) Garrett-Sikora, Shari (Paul) Hohos, Don R. (Beckie) Garrett and Sandra Frost. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kristen (Zach) Wyant, Natalie (Randy) Hohos, Carl (Jennifer) Garrett, Kayla (Hunter) Daughtridge and Garrett Loy Frost. Great-grandchildren include Zane and Kenzie Wyant. Her siblings include Emma Jean Laverty, Richard J. Fleck and the late Francis S. Susa. Last but not least, she is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. The family is especially grateful to her caregivers of this past year.
Entombment was in Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum, Frazer Township.
