Obituary/New Article, April 27, 1953 Burlington Free Press. Vermont Pilot killed in crash near Seattle. Maurice Booska, 34, of New Haven Mills was flying a plane. NEW HAVEN -- April 26 -- Mr. and Mrs. Dolphus Booska received word yesterday of the death early Thursday of their son, Major Maurice Arthur Booska, 34, in an Army plane crash in the Cascade Mountains 70 miles from Seattle, Wash. Major Booska, a transport pilot, was piloting the plane. Of the crew of five on the plane, three were killed and two survived. Enroute from Cheyenne, Wyo. to Seattle, the plane become lost in a storm. Searchers found the plane Friday. Major Booska was last in New Haven for his father's birthday, March 23. Veteran Army Pilot - Booska was a veteran flyer of World War II, having done 50 missions over Germany. He was discharged from the service with the rank of major. Since his discharge he has been employed as a commercial pilot. He was born in North Billerica, Mass., on Nov. 25, 1918, the son of Dolphus and Angeline Booska. He leaves his wife, Marguerite Wiley Booska, one daughter ; his parents; and one brother, Carl Booska of Orwell. The body is expected to arrive on Monday and will be taken to the home of his parents in New Haven Mills where funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol. Military honors will be in charge of the the Bristol Post of the American Legion.
