- Richard T ?Dick? Schultz went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday February 20, 2016 surrounded by family at the MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Waiting for him with open arms was his wife of 50 years Christine Schultz (nee: Wasielewski) who preceded him in 2012.
Born on March 18, 1929 in Detroit the son of the late Thomas and Clara Schultz (nee: Hillmiester) Dick married the former Christine Wasielewski on May 19, 1962.
Dick served his country proudly in the Korean War, and was a member of the Detroit Police Auxiliary. Retiring from Detroit Edison in 1990 Dick and Christine moved to Gladwin, MI where he joined the Gladwin County Police Reserves, he served proudly until health reasons forced him to quit. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, member of AMVETS and the VFW.
Dick is survived by his children Richard Jr, Kristine (Andrew) Parrott, his grandchildren Danny and Jon-Thomas Parrott all of Midland, his brother Thomas Schultz Jr. of Warren, MI, sister Dolores Bury of St Clair Shores and his very special friend Jim of Midland. He is preceded in death by his wife Christine and his sister Dolores "Dee? Duquette.
A Memorial Service will be held at St Agnes Roman Catholic Church (Our Lady of Grace Parish) in Sanford on Saturday March 5th at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Dick?s name to the Special Olympics of Midland County at http://somi.org/area30/index.html where his son Richard Jr. participates.
