Lewis Alfred Porter Jr., fondly known as "Lew," age 86, passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2025 at his home in Brentwood, NH.
He was born on August 8, 1938 in Exeter, NH, the eldest of seven children of the late Lewis Alfred Porter Sr. and Rosanna (Bouchard) Porter.
Lew grew up in Fremont, NH and, at just 17 years old, met the love of his life, Claudette Garside, when he offered her a ride home from the IOKA Theatre in Exeter-an encounter that led to a lifelong partnership. They married on April 19, 1958, and raised their two children in Brentwood, in the home Lew built where they still reside today.
Lew began his working life at the Raymond, NH shoe shop before establishing a long and successful career in electronics. He worked as a tester and analyzer of circuit boards with Western Electric in North Andover, MA, later continuing with AT&T and finishing his career with Lucent Technologies.
Family was at the center of Lew's life. He and Claudette loved taking cross-country road trips and visiting with relatives and friends both near and far. He was also an avid candlepin bowler, participating in bowling leagues in Haverhill, MA, often through his workplace.
In addition to his parents, Lew was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Cindy Marie Porter, and two sisters, Gloria Willey and Faith Chase.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Claudette Porter; his daughter, Michelle Porter; son, Allan Porter, and his wife Linda Porter; granddaughter, Megan Gamache, and her husband Paul Gamache, along with their children: Charlotte, Chloe, and Jacob Gamache; grandson, Gary Porter, and his wife Lisa Fuller; siblings: Peter Porter, Mona Simmel, Richard Porter, and Roger Porter; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
