Edward Clair Bottenfield , 87, of Beach Park, Illinois passed away July 7, 2001. Born in Waterloo, IA., on June 12, 1914 he was the fourth of five children born to Edward Virgil Bottenfield and Arminta H. (nee Brown)
Ed enlisted in the Army in November of 1942 and served in Europe during WW II. He moved to the Waukegan area after the war, first working at the North Chicago Hardware Foundry and later at Johns-Manville Corp., where he retired in 1979.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Anne, (nee Haller), both of his parents, his brothers Donald James, Vernon Lloyd, Carl William and his sister Golden Viola (Blair). He is survived by his second wife, Nola Juanita, (nee Woodring), two sons, Robin Earle and Brian LeRoy, his adopted son Ray, and a stepson, Richard Wiertz.
Two grandchildren, Rhett Eric and Eric Keith, a great-granddaughter Justice Marie and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
It was Ed's desire to not have a memorial service.
He will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
