Karl L. Sturnick Beloved Karl L. Sturnick, 90, passed away at St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, on August 9, 2010. He was born June 23, 1920, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Hannah and Gustave Sturnick. Upon graduation from Alexandria High School in Minnesota, he was voted Athlete of the Year, culminating four years of football, basketball and baseball. He served as a sergeant in the infantry during WWII and afterward attended the University of Minnesota and Gustavus Adolphus College, where he played football and graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He worked in sales for Remington-Rand, Swift and Co. and Unitech Chemical, Inc. and later owned and operated a summer resort in Alexandria. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cards, golf and reading. Survivors include wife Lorraine Sturnick; daughters Diane Gamache, Judith Sturnick and Sandra Spargo; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased family includes son Alan Sturnick, daughter Susan Robinson and grandson Tom Gamache. Karl was a member of the American Legion, Elks and Eagles. A funeral mass will be held at noon at St. Michael Catholic Church, Olympia, on Saturday, August 14.
