Deceased Name: ROBERT D. BAKER
Services for Robert D. Baker, 61, of Oneida Street, who died Monday at Oneida City Hospital after being stricken at home, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fiore Funeral Home. Burial with military rites conducted by the Sylvan Beach American Legion Post 1153 Color Guard will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneida.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 303 Main St., Oneida.
Born in Binghamton, Mr. Baker lived in the Sylvan Beach area for 40 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator engineer with Local 545 for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War with the 1st Artillery Division.
Mr. Baker was a member of Sylvan Beach American Legion Post 1153, VFW Trace-Auringer Post 7325 of Constantia, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 421 Oneida and PBOE Lodge 767 of Oneida.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Rush Baker of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; a son, Robert D. of Binghamton; a daughter, Rene McGinnis of Newark Valley; two stepsons, Donald H. Rush of Pine Island, Fla., and John P. Rush Jr. of Trinity, Texas; two stepdaughters, Jacquelyn Gamache of Charlottesville, Va., and Dawn M. Rush of Del Ray Beach; two brothers, Frank of Richford and Richard of Maine, N.Y.; a sister, Marion Sacco of Owego; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
