Deceased Name: Walter S. Carmichael
MIDDLEBORO - Walter S. Carmichael, aged 78 years, lifelong resident of Middleboro, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at home. He was the husband of Deborah O. (Furlan) Carmichael.
He was born in Middleboro, son of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Fowler) Carmichael. He was a 1951 graduate of Middleboro High School. He was a cranberry grower for Ocean Spray and previously had been a mechanic for Nemasket Construction. Walter had been a Boy Scout leader for Troop #39 for 15 years. He enjoyed building machines, helping others, collecting cookie jars for his wife, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Lori (Carmichael) Salay and Lisa Carmichael, both of Raynham, Tina (Gamache) Bernier, Tracy (Gamache) Santiano, both of Middleboro, a son, James Gamache Jr. of Maine; a brother, Albert Carmichael of Middleboro, a sister, Patricia (Carmichael) Miller of Carver, 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro, Thursday, May 31 at 11 am. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Burial will take place in Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Middleboro.
