Mary Kay Smith, nee Miller, 86, of Cahokia, Ill., born September 22, 1930, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at her residence.
Mary Kay was the owner/operator of Mary Kay's Beauty Salon in Cahokia, Ill., for 51 years. She was a member of Maplewood Church of Christ, Cahokia, Ill.; the Red Hat Ladies; and the Women's Club of Cahokia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester "Sonny" C. Smith Jr.; her father, Angus Miller Sr.; and her mother, Marguerite Jackson.
Surviving are her daughters, Celeste (John) Gamache of Cahokia, Ill., Carol (Larry) Tweston of Belleville, Ill., and Tina Brown of Cahokia, Ill.; a brother, Angus "Shorty" Miller Jr. of Hillsboro, Mo.; two sisters, Carolyn "Junie" (George) Fields of Cole Camp, Mo., and Jacqueline (John) Stephenson of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kimberly Adams, John Clark "J.C." (Jackie) Gamache, and Christy Gisher; six great-grandchildren, Donald, Jordan, Mackenzie, Tabitha, Payten, and Cody; a great-great-grandson, Brody; and her church family. She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Services: At Mary Kay's request, there will be no visitation. Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, from Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill., to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo., for a 10:15 a.m. burial service.
