YOUNG Robert Loren Young, 89, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at the George and Margaret Morris Center (Community Hospice of NE Florida). He was born on April 17, 1922 to Clyde H. and Freda Bohrer Young. Mr. Young, a veteran of WWII, served in the U.S. Army (European Theater). A longtime resident of Jacksonville, he had retired from the Florida Times Union after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Masons and Scottish rites and a member of Northside Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Adult Sunday School teacher, Elder and Treasurer. Mr. Young was predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Lucy Young. Survivors include Frances L. Young, his loving wife and partner of 65 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Greg Cloud; 2 grandsons, Ian and Blake Gamache; brother, John H. Young of Wisconsin; Mary Prestwood, sister-in-law, and Jack Prestwood, Sr., brother-in-law, as well as nephews and nieces and other extended family members and caring friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in the chapel of COREY-KERLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1426 Rowe Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32208 with Rev. Bert Swearingen of Northside Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road following the service. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida or Northside Presbyterian Church, 1801 Leonid Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32218.
