  [S5] Obituary. Deforest "Frosty" Waid, 64, 1310 Grand Ave, died on Tuesday, July 6, 1983 at Holy Cross Hospital. He was born to Gilbert and Helen (Wade) Waid on August 26, 1918 in Red Granite. He was married to Lola Stevenson on November 6, 1942 in Merrill. He joined the CCC Camp Newwood in 1935 He served with the 26th Texas Division of the US Army in North Africa during World War II, and earned five battle stars, two invasion arrowheads, and the combat infantry badge. He worked for Wisconsin Public Service for 35 years as a meter reader and tester until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the VFW, the WPSC Men's Club, and the WPSC Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Bible Presbyterian Church, and served in church activities as Elder, Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. Survivors besides his wife include three sons, Alam of 212 Pier St, Dean of 1300 W. St. Paul St, Paul of 610 E Main St; two brothers Royal Waid of Pine River and Richard Waid of Rhinelander; a sister Mrs. Bernadine Swick of Medford, OR; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 9, 1983 at Bible Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert Smallman officiated and burial was in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott. A visitation was held on Friday evening at the Schram-Waid Funeral Home.
