Alfred Nowak, Former Wausau Town Chairman, Dies.
Alfred L. Nowak, 63, 4500 Evergreen Road, Town of Wausau, who held several offices for the Town of Wausau, died at 12:10 am today at Wausau Hospital Center.
Mr. Nowak was chairman of the Town of Wausau from 1968 to 1974. Prior to that, he was town treasurer. At the time of his death he was a member of the town's planning commission.
A dairy farmer, he was a member of the American Milk Producers Inc., and was also an usher at St. James Catholic Church.
Mr. Nowak was born July 23, 1916, in Fort Worth, Texas, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nowak. On June 12, 1943, in Wausau, he married Veryl Hollinger, who survives.
Survivors besides his wife include a son; a daughter; two brothers, Bernard, Kewauskum, and David, Route 2, Wausau; four sisters; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 am at the Peterson Funeral Home and at 10:30 am at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Jerome Hoeser will officiate and burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
Friends may call Monday from 4 until 9 pm at the funeral home, where there will be a parish vigil service at 7 pm Monday.
