Roy E. Duranceau, 71, Wausau, died Saturday September 12, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 19, 1944 in Wausau, son of the late Lester and Frances (Richards) Duranceau. On March 25, 1966, he married Mary Rottscheit in Wausau, She survives. Roy had been employed for over 38 years at the former Hammerblow Corporation, prior to his retirement. Among his favorite things to do were woodworking, especially scroll sawing, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Frequently he would gather for coffee downtown with the 'Rusty Zipper Gang' and other friends. In the past, he worked on Boy Scout projects with his son, Timothy. He was known by many, many people and always had a friendly greeting for all and he always had a joke to brighten people's day, even when he was becoming ill. He had a very pleasant demeanor always and he was friendly with people of all kinds. He will be missed by many and downtown won't be the same without him. He was also committed to his sobriety and had 44 years in. Survivors include his wife, Mary, five children, Cheryl Duranceau, Cathy (Jae) Neu, Hope, Timothy and Scott Duranceau; his pet dog, Shilo; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, five siblings, Floyd (Mary) Duranceau, Delbert Duranceau, Leonard (Alice) Duranceau, Rosalie Duranceau and Audrey Bailey; and his loyal best friend, Hans "Horst" Kretzer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. A Eulogy and Sharing Time will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Services at Noon, Saturday September 19, 2015 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Matthew Marshall will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
