Deceased Name: Elvedna ‘Sandy' Biegler
Yreka resident, Elvedna "Sandy"; Biegler, 81, passed away peacefully Nov. 4, 2005, at Fairchild Medical Center, following a short illness.
Sandy was born in Santa Rosa in 1924, and moved to Yreka with her husband Walter F. Biegler in 1949. They were married for 57 years before his passing in December 2003.
Sandy worked with the Siskiyou County Probation office in the late 1950s, and later worked as a secretary for the A.J. McMurray Construction Company. Due to a work-related injury to her husband, Sandy retired to care for him.
Sandy enjoyed bowling, playing golf, hunting and fishing, as well as camping and boating with family. She also played an active role in her daughter's interest in horses.
Survivors include a sister, Velda Jensen; daughters and sons in-law, Janet and Roger Gamache and Karen and Tom Wyatt; grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Sonya Gamache and David and Maria Gamache; grandchildren, Michele and Scott Thomas; nieces, Diane Wygal and Susan Blatz; and great-grandchildren, Christy, Marissa, Heather, Victoria, Elizabeth and Julianna Gamache.
In addition to her husband, Sandy was preceded in death by a sister, Laureen Wygal, in November 1998.
A viewing is 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12, at Girdner Funeral Chapel, followed by a 2:30 p.m. graveside service at Fort Jones Cemetery. Bishop Don Hill will officiate. Following the services, the family welcomes friends to stop by the Biegler residence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy's name to Fairchild Medical Center.
