Reta Irene Griffith, age 98, of Big Springs, Siskiyou County, California, passed away on February 8, 2025 in Yreka, California. She was our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, great-great-grandmother, "aunt Reta", and best friend. She is, and will be, greatly missed.
Reta was born in Weaverville, California on November 25, 1926, and was the 13th child of 15 children born to Charles and Nelda Rowe.
Reta married George Gamache at age 18. She bore 8 children and worked as a waitress to support her family.
She later re-married twice, with the last marriage being to Norman Grifftith, her beloved husband and friend. All three of her spouses have preceded her in death, and, of her eight children, her second son, Roger Gamache (wife Janet), has recently and sadly, preceded her in death.
Her seven surviving children are: Gail Wolford, Allen Gamache (wife Ginny), David Gamache (wife Michelle), Suzanne Morris (husband Alfred), Tammy Paterson (husband Walter), Donna Dunn (husband Mike), and Kristi Evans (husband Alex).
Reta is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She will be buried next to her late husband, Norman Grifftith.
Funeral services will be held at Girdner Funeral Chapel on February 27, 2025 at 12 Noon.
Internment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka.
