Joyce I. Henderson The funeral service for Joyce I. Henderson, 71, Valley City, North Dakota will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2003 at First Church of the Nazarene, Valley City. Rev. Ron Keysor and Rev. Troy Durham will officiate and inurnment will be in Memory Gardens near Valley City. She died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services in the church Friday.
Joyce Ione Moen was born August 18, 1931 in Christine, North Dakota. As a young child, she moved with her family to Moorhead, Minnesota. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1949, and went on to work various jobs in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
On November 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to Clinton H. Henderson in Moorhead, Minnesota. They moved to the family farm near Tower City in 1956 and they continued to farm until they moved into Valley City, North Dakota in 1992. Clinton died on June 22, 1997 and Joyce continued to make her home in Valley City.
She was a member of the Gideons, Barnes County Homemakers, Minnie Lake Ladies' Aid, as well as numerous organizations over the years. She served on the Weimer Township Board.
Joyce is survived by her son, Lester (Shelly) Henderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Teri Jo (Clayton) Klimek of Minto, North Dakota; 6 grandchildren, Leah, Levi, Shanna, Seth, David, and Daniel; brother, Milo (Monnie) Moen of Fox Island, Washington; sisters, Patty (Robert) Lewis of Hawley, Minnesota, Janet (Julien) Richard of West Fargo, North Dakota, and JoAnn (Gene) Gamache of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Roger.
Funeral arrangements are by Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.
