Mrs. Meritzer dies; Liked Raising Flowers
Mrs. Fannie Sigal Meritzer, 75, of 463 Mistletoe Ave., died of cancer at 8:30 pm Saturday in South Side Hospital after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Meritzer was born Jan. 20, 1884 in Romania, a daughter of Morton and Tobe Sigal and came to Youngstown from Pittsburgh in 1903. She was a member of Rodef Sholom Temple. She was known for her flower raising and gardening and had lived in Brownlee Woods for many years before moving to Mistletoe Ave.
She leaves her husband, Abraham, a retired grocer to whom she was married in 1903; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Kraus and Mrs. Morris S. Rosenblum, both of Youngstown; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Abraham of Pittsburgh and Louis of Miami Beach; four sisters, Mrs. Maurice D. Azen, Mrs. Samuel Bloom and Mrs. William Shirey, all of Pittsburgh; and Mrs. Sarah Weinstein of Miami Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday at the Shriver-Allison North Side Funeral Home. There are no calling hours.
