Maurice Gamache Obituary

Maurice J. Gamache, 89, of Lebanon husband of Anita (Diette) Gamache passed away Sunday October 27, 2024 at Windham Hospital. He was the son of the late Joseph and Hermine (Senechal) Gamache.
Born on May 30, 1935 in Willimantic, CT. Maurice was a graduate of St. Mary School and Windham High School. He and four classmates enlisted in the USAF and were proud to have served his country. For many years stories were told about his time serving and being an installer of control towers. After returning home he also completed his time with the Marine reserves. Upon graduating from the Vaughn Barber School, he worked as a barber at the Coast Guard Academy. He then joined his father at Gamache's Barber Shop until his retirement. While living by the river in Chaplin he raised his family. He was a scout master and spent many times climbing Mt. Washington and spent weeks at the Boy Scout Camp. He was very proud of his sons both becoming Eagle Scouts. He was a lifetime member of the Franco American Civic and Social Club in Windham. He was a president and past president of the Past Presidents. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Korean War Veterans Association and loved making maple syrup in the winter. He loved his grandchildren for there being a special place in his life.
Besides his wife Anita, he is survived by a son, Kevin Gamache and his wife Cindy of Canterbury; a sister, Norma Berek of Waterford; 3 grandchildren, Benjamin Gamache, Joseph Gamache, Danielle Mayo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Steven Gamache, a brother, Arthur JR Gamache and a sister, Loretta Hill. The family wants to give a special thanks to the staff at Windham Community Memorial Hospital for their excellent care.
A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday Nov 5, at 10AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church 67 W. Town St, Lebanon. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Lebanon. There are no calling hours.
