Grace M. Gauthier 1917-2007 LOWELL - Grace M. Gauthier, 89, of Sandwich, MA, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare in Mashpee. She was the widow of George A. Gauthier. Born May 27, 1917, in Salmon Falls, New Hampshire, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Toussaint, and the late Philomena Theriault. At the age of 15 she joined St. Joseph's Convent of St. Hyacinthe in Canada. During her time in Canada, she enjoyed teaching music, especially the Native Americans. In 1950 she joined her family residing in Lowell, where she met her husband, and began teaching piano. Later they moved to Springfield where she taught piano and vocal instructions for over 50 years. In 2004, she moved to Cape Cod to be closer to her daughter and to continue teaching music. Throughout her life, her love of music was ever present. She is survived by a daughter, Pauline Hoerner and her husband, John, of Marston Mills, MA; a sister, Gertrude Gamache of Goffstown, NH; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Omar Toussaint, the late Loretta Toussaint, the late Lucien Toussaint, the late Theresa Toussaint, the late Raymond Toussaint, the late Richard Toussaint, and the late Evelyn Demonthenes.
