PHILADELPHIA -- Roland Albert Johnson, 63, of Souderton, Pa., died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Temple University Hospital. He was the husband of Carolyn (Webb) Johnson, to whom he was married 44 years. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Albion C. and Lauretta (Gamache) Johnson. Mr. Johnson had been employed about 25 years in various positions by C&D Batteries of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., before working as plant manager for seven years for General Battery Co., in Reading, Pa. He retired from Wirtz Manufacturing, Port Huron, Mich., after 10 years as director of Wirtz International. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Schaeffer and husband Donald and Laurie Lynn Pitt and husband Norman Jr., all of Gilbertsville; a son, Scott Johnson and wife Elizabeth of Lansdale; three sisters, Betty Lemmo and husband John of Lakeville, Mass., Eleanor Westgate and husband Carl of Mattapoisett, Mass., and Phyllis Mikelevitch and husband Mike of Westport, Mass.; four brothers, Henry Johnson and wife Gloria of Hudson, Ohio, Raymond Johnson of Seattle, Wash., George Johnson of New Jersey, and Walter Johnson of Haverhill, Mass.; and four grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lauretta Furtado and Albion Johnson. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Anders Detweiler Funeral Home, 130 East Broad St., Souderton.
