Beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend Joseph Anderson entered eternal rest unexpectedly with his family by his side while vacationing in St. Petersburg Florida. Born in Springfield on July 17,1929 to the late William and Mary (Rooney) he was raised in Indian Orchard and has resided in Agawam for the past fifty-five years. Joseph attended Springfield Technical high school and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He wed the love of his life Gloria Molta in 1958 and they have spent sixty-three years happily married. Joseph was a valued member of the Connecticut Correctional Institution and retired after many years of service in 1989. In his leisure he enjoyed gardening and a round of golf. He was an avid fan of all teams New England and looked forward to watching the games. His favorite destination was St. Petersburg Florida, and his passion was vacationing there. Spending time with his grandchildren brought him immense joy and nothing could be finer than engaging with them playing cards. Joseph loved his family dearly and being near them made his life complete.
Surviving Joseph is his beloved wife Gloria and his devoted children; Michael Anderson and his wife Nancy, Kevin Anderson and his wife Judy and Joanne and her husband William Siano. Left to cherish his memory are his loving grandchildren Lea, Willie, David, Eric, Louie, Nicky, Paul and great grandchildren Emelia and Owen as well as many nieces and nephews. Sadly, his was predeceased by his parents and siblings; Ethel Gamache, Grace McGrath, John Anderson, William Anderson, Mary Tshonas, Helen Norton, Alice Chrusciel, and Katherine Anderson.
Services for Joseph will be held on Monday March 14,2022 beginning with calling hours from 9:30-11:15 A.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main St followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at St. John the Evangelist Church 855 Main St in Agawam at 11:45 A.M. Committal with full military honors will be held at 1 P.M. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Remembrances in Joseph?s name may be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105.
