Joan Marie (Gouvan) Gamache, 79, of East Longmeadow entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 6, 1942 to the late Ed and Edna (Cochran) Gouvan. Joan was raised in East Longmeadow where she lived the majority of her life and was a 1960 graduate of The High School of Commerce.
Along with her parents, welcoming her into eternal life is her sister Edwina Juzba, as well as many other family members and friends who went before her. She is survived by the love of her life and husband Donald Gamache, her children Dawn McGoey and her husband James of Killingworth CT, Nick Gamache and his wife Renata of Milton NH, Kim Galiatsos and her husband Doug of Stafford CT, and Lynn Gamache of Cromwell CT. Family was one of the most important things in Joan?s life; especially when it came to her grandchildren Katie, Jimmy, Jake, Andrew, and Marisol. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Sandy Little, many cherished nieces and nephews, as well as a step-granddaughter Becky.
Spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren brought her immense joy. In her leisure, Joan enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing games, listening to Golden Oldies, and cheering on the Miami Dolphins.
Joan was the office manager at Quimby?s Appliance in East Longmeadow where she worked for over 20 years. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Maine with her family.
Visitation for Joan will be on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm at Sampson?s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield MA 01129. A liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 10am at St. Patrick?s Church, 1900 Allen Street, Springfield MA 01118. Rites of Committal to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Callendar Avenue, East Longmeadow.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Joan?s name may be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
