Shirley Agatha (Young) Tobin
Sydney Mines
Shirley Agatha (Young) Tobin, of Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully at the Northside General Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998.
Born in Bras d'Or, she was the daughter of the late Hilary and Elizabeth Vencentia (Serroul) Young. She was a member of the St. Pius X Parish, Sydney Mines. She worked at St. Joseph's School in Sydney Mines, for 40 years as a supervisor.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlene and Diane (Marcel) Gaudet, both of Sydney Mines; a son, Wayne (Donna Shaw), also of Sydney Mines; three brothers, Fred (Eleanor) Young, North Sydney, Pat (Bernice) Young, Halifax and Harry (Lydia) Young, British Columbia; six sisters, Brenda (Greg MacMullan), Hildred (Bill Lewis), both of North Sydney, Theresa Tobin, Sydney, Mildred (Gillis Gamache), Quebec, Ethel Gould and Kay Gale, both of Ontario. Also surviving are her most precious treasures her granddaughters, Hillary and Mallory Gaudet and Megan, Victoria and Vanessa Tobin, a grandson, Andrew Tobin and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cyril (Mick), two sons, Keith Patrick and Elmer and a sister, Mary (Johnson), one grandson, Jaret Gaudet and a granddaughter, Faith Gaudet.
Visitation will be held at G.R. Francis and Son Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines with Fr. Tony MacDonald officiating. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
