CHAMPLAIN ? Clara (Chenevert) Gooley who was born on Dec. 2, 1913, passed into the Lords hands on Sept. 11, 2006, peacefully with all of her family by her side. Daughter of the late Napolean & Margaret (Patnode) Chenevert. Her husband, Albert predeceased her in 1978. She is survived by her son, Robert and Melissa Gooley; daughter, Marilyn and Jim Daily of Champlain and daughter, Linda Merchant and Doug Pilon of Chazy; a brother, Benedict Chenevert of Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren, Beverly Juneau and Leah Lozier of Morrisonville, Mary Buffard of Jacksonville, Fla., Stacy Gooley, Carter, Logan and Emma Gooley and Donna Sorrell, all of Champlain and James Daily III of Saratoga, N.Y.; 16 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Corey Juneau, Brandon and Danielle Gooley, Trisha and Sheryl Picard, Chelsey Buffard, Conner, Dylan and Hannah Gooley, Justin, Megan and Erin Sorrell, Kyle and Kaeleigh Daily and Tyler Lafountain; along with four great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by a son, Richard Gooley; three grandchildren, Robert Jr, Daniel and Jason Gooley; one daughter-in-law, Gertrude Gooley; three brothers, Horatio, Thomas and William Chenevert; and eight sisters, Bertha Swinton, Margaret Hill, Isabelle Castine, Dorothy Mussen, Mable Labombard, Anna Gamache, Beatrice Supernault and Eleanor Gaudette. Clara or Gram as she was known by so many, had a passion for family and entertaining from Saturday evening dinners with family and friends to working at the Tastee Freeze, Crossing Restaurant and even running her own restaurant the Hill Top, all in Champlain. Clara's heart was always full of love for all her special babies. Her quick wit and love of life made her the very special lady she always was to friends and family. Please join the family in celebrating her life at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A Christian Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Champlain.
